Established in 2018 to honor the legacy of the late Deputy Director Kim Jiseok, the Jiseok Film Institute is dedicated to both theoretical and practical initiatives, including academic exchange and education focused on Asian cinema. The institute also aims to strengthen international alliances through various research and development projects that explore the potential growth and future vision of the Busan International Film Festival.
At the 30th Busan International Film Festival, Forum BIFF, an academic event focused on film and video that had been suspended for some time, was held again. At the Forum BIFF 2025, new strategies and visions derived from various interdisciplinary analyses of film art and industry were shared, and in-depth discussions on Korean and Asian cinema took place.
