Established in 2018 to honor the legacy of the late Deputy Director Kim Jiseok, the Jiseok Film Institute is dedicated to both theoretical and practical initiatives, including academic exchange and education focused on Asian cinema. The institute also aims to strengthen international alliances through various research and development projects that explore the potential growth and future vision of the Busan International Film Festival.
At the 30th Busan International Film Festival, the institute is proud to revive Forum BIFF, an academic event focused on film and video, after a hiatus. We hope it to function as a space where new strategies and visions derived from various interdisciplinary analyses are shared and in-depth discussions on Korean and Asian cinema take place.
