2015 Asian Auteur - Apichatpong Weerasethakul

After Jia Zhangke in 2013 and Mohsen Makhmalbaf in 2014, Apichatpong Weerasethakul will be explored deeply by some Korean film professionals. One of the most distinctive and creative directors in the world, Apichatpong will tell ‘My Films, My Philosophy’ in his keynote speech. Following him, film critic Jeong Sung Il will discourse about ‘Apichatpong and the achievements of image aesthetics’ and PNU professor LEE Wang Joo about ‘Apichatpong images the visibility of the invisibility.’

‘Actors Forum’ with Kyungsung University Film Media Acting Project Group

The weapons of actors are facial expressions, gestures and language. Probably the most popular session in the forum, the Actors Forum hosts ‘Actors Talk to the Audience’ with Cho Jae-hyun, professor of Department of Theater and Film at Kyungsung University and the head of Film Media Acting Agency of Kyungsung University. He and a few other actors will deliver a short speech respectively on acting etc. and talk openly with audiences.

2nd Film Reading Forum: Ode to My Father

Perhaps the most anticipated session together with ‘Actors Forum; director JK Youn will tell his ruminations on Ode to My Father. Panels will then openly discuss the ’Korean War and Gukje Market’ and 'Life, War and Labor’ as well as other lectures, open talks, and musical performances.

Again 1945! ‘The 70th National Liberation Day, 70 Years of Korean Cinema’

The City of Busan held the ‘University Student Film Festival Celebrating 70th Anniversary of Liberation - Again 1945! Korea and Busan’ on August 14th. A total of 6 documentaries and one feature film directed by film students of Busan area is screened at the Busan Cinema Center for free. This session is an extension of a program that commemorates the 70th anniversary of liberation as well as 70 years of Korean film history.

The 'Film and Storytelling' forum hosed by Dankook university graduate school of cinematic content BK21+ team.

In section1, Korean film storyteller, writer Song Gil-han will be spotlighted.
In section 2 and 3, the globalization of Korean film story for Chinese and US market issues will be studied in depth through international and regional experts.

Sessions Seen through Transnationalism

The 2015 Forum holds various sessions on transnationalism that include ‘Arab Spring and Arabian film culture’ by Hanyang University Department of Cultural Anthropology professor Lee Hee Soo, ‘Korea and Vietnam, memories toward future and chronology’ by Busan University of Foreign Studies Department of Vietnamese professor Bae Young-soo, ‘Korea-Japan cultural exchange, footprints and vision’ with experts from film, pop music, and broadcasting that acknowledge the 50th anniversary of the normalization of Korea-Japan diplomatic relations.

Special Program

‘Youth Humanities Lecture' with the National Research Foundation of Korea

With the National Research Foundation of Korea (president - Chung Min Keun), BC&F 2015 F will hold a special feature program ‘Youth Humanities Lecture’ presided over by Director Jeon Chanil of BIFF Research Institute on the opening day of BC&F. The main guests include director Kim Han-min of Roaring Currents and the very expert on Japanese Invasion of Korea and the Manchu war of 1636, history professor at Myongji University Han Myoung-gi. The program is comprised of about short 10-minute lectures by the two guests and a Q&A session to share various past and present issues on humanities and provide insight for the younger generation.
